The Knockout Mouse Program (KOMP2) is an NIH initiative that, together with the other members of the International Knockout Mouse Consortium (IKMC), aims to generate a public resource comprised of knockout information for all protein-coding genes in the mouse genome.
For more details, see the NIH KOMP2 Home Page
Overwiew publications:
- Mammalian Genome: Progress towards completing the mutant mouse null resource (2022)
- Nucleic Acids Research: The International Mouse Phenotyping Consortium: comprehensive knockout phenotyping underpinning the study of human disease (2022)
Please see this section of the Documentation to find more Consortium publications, organised by theme.
The KOMP Research Network
- Three KOMP2 Production Centers generate and phenotype knockout mice:
- Baylor College of Medicine, led by Mary Dickinson and Jason Heaney
- The Jackson Laboratory, led by Bob Braun, Stephen Murray and Jacqui White
- Davis Toronto Collaborative Centers (DTCC), a collaboration between University of California, Davis and The Centre for Phenogenomics led by K.C. Kent Lloyd and Colin McKerlie
- The Mouse Phenotyping Informatics Infrastructure (MPI2) serves as the data coordinating center for KOMP2, led by Helen Parkinson and Tudor Groza at the European Bioinformatics Institute, Damian Smedley at Queen Mary University of London, Sara Wells at the Medical Research Council, Harwell, and Anne-Marie Mallon at the Turing Institute.
The KOMP Research Network receives guidance from:
- An NIH KOMP Working Group, consisting of programme staff from each of the 18 NIH institutes, centers, and offices that provide funding to support the KOMP initiative:
- NCI, NCCIH, NEI, NHGRI, NHLBI, NIA, NIAAA, NIAID, NIAMS, NICHD, NIDA, NIDCD, NIDCR, NIDDK, NIEHS, NINDS, ORIP, ORWH
- A Panel of Scientific Consultants responsible for reviewing and evaluating the progress of the members of the KOMP2 Research Network:
- Anita Bandrowski, University of California, San Diego
- Catherine Nguyen, Institut national de la santé et de la recherche médicale (Inserm)
- Jonathan Sebat, University of California, San Diego
- John Mudgett, JsM BioScience
- George Carlson, University of California, San Francisco
- Kat Hadjantonakis, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center
KOMP2 mouse strains and cell lines are available to order on the Mutant Mouse Resource and Research Centers (MMRRC) online catalogue under the “KOMP” major collection.
